That's why they call it 'Ironman': Sunday's hole location at the 7th at Pine Hills

Toledo pro Mike Stone and partner Jerred Barley crushed the field in the 2010 edition of the Pine Hills Fall 2-Man Ironman Scramble, played in Hinkley on Halloween Sunday.

No Halloween metaphor here either; Stone and Barley crushed ’em all  — winning by six shots in a 2-man scramble and grabbing three of five skins made on the day.

TOP FINISHERS:
1st – Mike Stone / Jerred Barley 63 (-9) – $1,200
2nd – Mark Foss / Mike Angie 69 (-3) – $800
T-3 – Steve Weir / Tim Cebula 70 (-2) – $400
T-3 – Jake Scott / Pat Elber 70 (-2) – $400
T-3 – Scott Heran / Mike Mintz 70 (-2) – $400

SKINS: 5 won worth $108 apiece:
-Birdie 2 on Par-3 4th – Steve Gerardot/Ron Devorsky
-Eagle 3 on Par-5 5th – Jerred Barley/Mike Stone
-Eagle 3 on Par-5 10th – Jerred Barley/Mike Stone
-Birdie on Par-4 13th – John Gasior and Bob Murphy
-Birdie on Par-4 17th – Jerred Barley/Mike Stone
.

In addition to difficult hole locations, there were some “Ironman” changes to the course setup that made for some interesting results:

– Hole 3 played from the white tees and measured less than 300 yards, and only 235 directly at the pin, but only 4 birdies there.

– Hole 13 was played at a distance of 475 yards, from the tee box usually reserved for the whites on #8. There was a skin with only one birdie made there.

– Hole 16 was played from 105 yards, from the red tee box. There were only 4 birdies there.

The average score for the day was 75, a whopping 3-over par for a 2-man scramble. Only eight of 26 teams in the field scored par or better for the day. That is IRONMAN!
