Twenty one teams from three states teed it up at the Blonde John Fall 3-Man Scramble at Quail Hollow Country Club in Concord on Saturday, and two of those teams finished in a tie for first place at 13 under par.
The team of Jim Krivanek, Mike Simpson and Danny Sahl, and the team of Walt Robertson, Pete Skirpas and Steve Blackburn Jr. each grabbed a share of the top spot, and took home $1,195 per team for their win.
The Krivanek Team birdied their last three holes to earn their share of the tie for first place. But earlier in the day, it appeared that a different team altogether would grab the win outright, as the Stevens Team (Jake Scott, Derek Duda and Brad Stevens) had a comfortable lead through most of the round. Unfortunately, the Stevens Team made par on their last three holes to finish in solo third place.
The Niedzialek, Duncan, and Daniels team tied for fourth place with an 11 under par total, and took home $160 each.
Every par-5 was eagled and there were no outright skins won, resulting in teams earning skins on the least tied holes.
The Perkins Team grabbed two of those skins, as they had one of two eagles on the par-5 8th hole, and one of only two birdies on the par-4 12th hole. They took home $525 for their pair of skins.
The Duncan and Dunlop Teams had the only two eagles on the par-5 14th hole to take home $262 each.
The Niedzialek Team tied the Perkins Team with the only birdies on the par-4 12th hole, taking home $262.
And the Stefanski team grabbed the final split skin worth $262 for their eagle on the 8th hole.
