After successfully helping to run yet another Ohio Open, Northern Ohio PGA Tournament Director David Griffith was helping with the teardown after the trophy presentation and stowing all of the tournament gear.
Then in a freak accident, Griffith twisted his leg on the pavement after jumping down a couple of stairs, and in the process he ruptured his calf muscle just above where it attaches at the Achilles tendon.
Now he’s seeing an orthopedic on Friday and will be out of commission for at least 4-6 weeks, forcing a WD from next week’s Ohio Amateur Championship at Canton Brookside Country Club.
Fresh off his 2013 Ohio Mid-Am victory, that’s a tough blow. Here’s wishing David a speedy recovery…
