Cleveland’s December Rounds Played Caps a Strong 2019 Season

The month of December brought another great Rounds Played report, making the 2019 golf season a solid one for Greater Cleveland.

According to the latest report from Golf Datatech, Cleveland experienced a tidy 23.9% increase in December rounds played vs its 2018 numbers.

For the year, the area’s numbers finished to the positive against last year’s totals, up +5.4% for 2019 v 2018.

For all of Ohio, play figures are up a healthy +7.6% in 2019 vs 2018, after bouncing up a big in December by +18.6%.

Regionally, Ohio is in “East North Central”. For that region, rounds played spiked up a staggering +55.8% for December. For the year, ENC finished up +4.0%.

Nationwide, overall rounds played were up +8.3% for the month of December. For the year, rounds played across the USA finished +1.5% up for the 2019 season vs 2018.

The map above shows the final 2019 total results for the year by state and region. It’s an interesting contrast to see which areas of the country played lots of golf (red), and which ones lagged behind (blue).

One last interesting metric to note: private club play showed more gains than public courses. Private clubs finished up +2.2% nationally for 2019, while public courses gained but +1.1% on the previous season’s play totals.
