It was a lightly-attended session with only 17 teams competing this Monday, as the threat of rain loomed over the evening (realized during the last hour of play for those teams still on the golf course).

On a windy and cool evening under the back nine better ball format, a pair of teams tied for the top spot in Week 4 of the Chippewa Scratch League. And with two skins won on the evening by completely different teams, no players took home a big prize that vaulted them up the Season Standings list.
2012 Chippewa Scratch League: Week 3 Results
The team of Mike Armour & Jason Chadima tied with Ty Kovach & Allen Freeman, as each posted a solid score of 6-under par 29 on the front side to win the Chippewa Scratch League in the scramble format this week.
But the three hitter on the fifth hole and the 5-under par solo third place finish left Dennis Berkheimer and Chris Helaney as the big winners on Monday evening.

With the pressure of a double prize amount riding on the outcome after last week’s rain-out, and the challenging combined-aggregate-score format being played on the back nine, no team in the field really stepped up and grabbed victory by the throat in Week 2.1 of the Chippewa Monday Night Scratch League.

Northeast Ohio Golf has always contended that the Chippewa Scratch League has some of the best amateur players in the state, maybe in the country.
The level of golf played on the first week of the 2012 league season backs up that statement.
The team of Dave Oates and Sam Spino made EIGHT birdies in nine holes on a breezy day with some truly tough hole locations. Offset by a lone bogey, the pair shot a 7-under par 29 on the lengthened back nine at Chippewa to win the first event of the season by two shots.
