The Stark County Amateur Golf Association has decided to cancel its June 27th “bramble” tournament at the Legends of Massillon Golf Club due to low registrations. SCAGA’s next event will be The Stark County Amateur, to be played at Prestwick, Seven Hills and The Sanctuary on July 23-25th. To enter, visit the SCAGA website.
After heavy rain mid-day washed out Saturday’s first round of the Stark County Amateur Golf Association’s 36-hole Spring Classic stroke play event, players headed out to Sable Creek Golf Club on Sunday to play in a one-day, 18-hole event.
What a shootout it turned out to be.
104 golfers converged on the 6,730 yard Zoar Village Golf Club for the annual opening Stark County Amateur Golf Association 2-man scramble tournament. The greens were in great shape as usual, fast and tricky for some of us.
The teams of Darren Phipps and Tom McBride tied with Richie Schembechler and Justin Lower at 12 under par to win the AA flight. Complete results follow.

The Stark County Amateur Golf Association starts its season with a 2-Man Scramble at Zoar Village Golf Course on April 25th.
Dave Oates and Mike Simpson went low at the Stark County Amateur Golf Association’s 2-Man Scramble at Chippewa Golf Course in Doylestown on Saturday. Their score of 12-under par 59 was good for a one-shot victory over Larry Russell and Scott Heran in the AA Division. Results:
