Norton Brick and Brian Smith posted a record-setting score of 15-under par 57 in the Cleveland Metroparks 2-Man Scramble Fall Tour event at Big Met Golf Course on Saturday.
Brick and Smith’s blistering score was good for a whopping 5-shot victory in a field of 37 teams.
Brad Steven of Concord played a truly solid round of tournament golf in extremely challenging conditions on Sunday to win his third Greater Cleveland Amateur Golf Championship title.
But Steven’s win wasn’t without some big drama, provided primarily by a hot-putting Doug Barber who shot lights-out early.
Dave Sotka of Chardon backed up his first round 71 with a second one, maintaining a one shot lead in the 2010 Cleveland Amateur Golf Championship at Manakiki after Saturday.
But with a slightly friendlier golf course setup on this second day of play, a handful of guys posted under par rounds to put some heat on Sotka.
Dave Sotka of Chardon was the only player to shoot under par in the first round of the 2010 Cleveland Amateur Golf Championship at Manakiki on Friday. Sotka posted a 1-under par score of 71 in very difficult conditions: firm greens, tough pins and a windy day that kept every other player at or over par.
