With a birdie 2 on the second playoff hole, Akron’s Kent Monas has qualified for the Round of 64 match play at the 2019 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Colorado Golf Club today.
Monas shot rounds of 71-76=147 at Colorado and Common Ground Golf Course to finish T59. That required an 18 players for six spot playoff, which began at 7a MT this morning.
Monas made par at the first playoff hole, then became the fourth player to earn a spot with his birdie, becoming the 62nd seed.
UPDATE:
On Monday, Monas faced the third seed, Ryan Eibner of Dallas, Texas and beat him 1-up in the Round of 64 by making a 12-foot par putt at the last.
On Tuesday, Monas lost his Round of 32 match to #30 seed Dan Ellis of Lansing MI, 3-up.
