Tee It Up with the ADGA in 2011!

ADGA Director Tim DavisThe Akron District Golf Association (ADGA), in its quest for the betterment of amateur golf in the greater Akron community, continues to refine its tournament schedule, formats, and payouts to provide its members with the best competition in the Akron area.

We hope golfers from all over Northeast Ohio will join us in 2011 in the events of the ADGA!

Again in 2011, the ADGA will offer a Players Membership. While membership is not required to enter and compete in ADGA events, only ADGA members receive Ungvary Cup Points and Golfer of the Year qualifying points. Members also have the opportunity to obtain points in certain non-ADGA events. The cost of membership is just $50 for the year.

Akron District Golf AssociationThe 2011 tournament schedule features four open events, as in 2010. However the season-ending Golfer of the Year event has been increased to 54 holes, contested over three days on all three courses at Firestone Country Club. The top earners in the Golfer of the Year points race will be offered a chance to compete in this premium event.

Senior Membership will also be offered in 2011. Members (and non-member tournament participants) at least 50 years of age will have the opportunity to compete in the Senior Division. For team events, both players must be at least 50 years of age prior to May 7, 2011, to be eligible.

Payouts and points were increased in 2010, which will continue in 2011 to make our events more appealing. As in 2010, the amount of the 1st through 10th place is established prior to the event with depth of payouts dependent on the size of the field. First place ties are decided by a sudden-death playoff immediately after completion of play and continuing until the tie is broken. The balance of finishing positions are split as necessary.

As in 2010, ADGA Members will receive Ungvary Cup and GOY Points in select non-ADGA events. These points are only open to ADGA Members and will be awarded at the completion of each tournament. Points will be awarded in order of finish among Player Member participants. Points will be awarded in both the junior and senior players divisions.

See the Northeast Ohio Golf Tournament Calendar for all of the 2011 tournament dates.
