Courtesy of some sponsors and friends of The Elms of Massillon, the 73rd Tigertown Open will once again feature a guaranteed first-place professional prize of $5,000 and a guaranteed senior professional first-place prize of $1,500.
Long-time owner/operator of The Elms, Tony Mastrianni, has been in conversation with a number of local business people and regular Elms players who have offered enough contributions to allow the guarantee of prize amounts once again. “The golf course has been doing well, and our regular players have always had an interest in being involved in the tournament. They want to see as many talented professionals compete as possible,” said Mastrianni. “Enough of them have stepped up to allow us to do that.”
Entries for the Friday, July 19th tournament will open on Monday, July 1st at 7:00 a.m. Again this year, professionals over the age of 50 as of July 19 can choose to “double-dip” — play in both professional divisions at the same time — by paying the entry fee for each division then play the professional tees.
The entry fee amounts for 2024 will remain unchanged from last year: $300 for the Professional and Senior Professional divisions, and $110 for the Amateur and Senior Amateur divisions. $20 from each entry fee collected goes into a skins pot for that division. Cart fees are separate from the entry fee and payable on event day.
