When Joey Hurtuk, Phil Bojc, Les Brock and Josh Mayle teed it up last Wednesday in the Kent State Blue & Gold Alumni Golf Outing at the KSU Golf Course, it seemed like just another day of scramble golf for these four friends.
But by day’s end, the foursome was scheduling an expenses-paid trip to Pinehurst (including two rounds at famed #2) and one of the guys had the keys to a brand new $56K car.
The foursome lit up the KSU course for a 19-under par score of 51, which included four eagles and a three shot victory. The win earned the team a paid entry into the Acura College Alumni Team National Championship at Pinehurst #4 and #2 (twice!) on November 5-7, with 58 other alumni teams from around country.
But the big news of the day was the eagle they made on the par-3 165-yard 15th hole — an ace! — that earned Joey Hurtuk a $56K Acura MDX! (Hurtuk is considering the cash alternative, still to be determined.)
All in all, not a bad haul for a $120 entry fee…
