The Northern Ohio PGA has announced it 2022 NOPGA junior tournament schedule, outlining a whopping 37 events for boys and girls starting from age eight through to 22-year-old collegiate players.
The largest set of events, the Northern Ohio PGA Junior Series is a group of tournaments for boys and girls ages 11-19 held at some of the top golf facilities in Northern Ohio. Age groups are separate for 11-15 and 16-19. These events offer juniors of all skill levels the opportunity to compete in true tournament play. The Series features the Jackson Dieken Player of the Year Points list, a national qualifier in the Junior PGA Section Championship, a set of 36-Hole Championships to help juniors to be noticed by college coaches without having to travel, and the long-running, season-finale, 36-hole Kenny Novak Tour Championship.
To prep kids to feel comfortable for golf competitions, players between the ages of 8-15 years old are welcome to participate in the 9-Hole Futures Tour program. The Futures Tour gives young golfers the ability to see what tournament golf is like in a fun environment. Parents and family members are permitted to caddie for their junior players, too. Age groups are set at 8-11 and 12-16.
Later in the summer, the events of the NOPGA Collegiate Preview Series are offered, designed for young men and women ages 17-22. These tournaments provide preparation for the college golf experience by conducting play on more challenging golf courses and offering a ‘college tournament feel’ level of competition.
