A brand-new one-day, 18-hole stroke play tournament open to both professionals and amateurs will play its inaugural event at Elyria Country Club on Thursday, October 15th.
The Elyria Open, benefiting the Hotsey Caddie Scholarship Foundation, will offer a first place prize of $3,000 out of a $10,000 total purse for the Professional Division, based on a full field. In the Amateur Division, players will compete for a winner’s share of $750 out of $2,500 total in merchandise.
The event is being conducted by ECC Assistant Jake Scott, NOPGA and ECC Board Member and current club champion Chris Horne.
“We wanted to run a top-level professional event at Elyria Country Club to give the players of Northern Ohio a chance to compete at our wonderful facility”, said Scott.
Added Horne, “It’s an opportunity to show off the beauty of our golf course and how it can be a challenging test without being 7,000+ yards.”

The course will play to a par 70, with the par-5 holes of 8 and 16 at ECC each converted to a long par-4 for the Championship.
The field will be limited to 100 players total, with priority given to 50 players in each division in order of registration. Entry fee is $225 for pros and $125 for ams if registered by Sep 30th, then $250/$150 after that (plus credit card processing fees).
But register early — this field will fill up fast. Don’t get stuck on the waiting list…
