Jon Riemer of Cleveland knocked one of his three Cleveland Golf Show Hole-in-One Finals shots to within a foot to earn a place in the 2020 Myrtle Beach World Amateur Championship on Sunday at the I-X Center.
Topping eight other competitors with his closest-to-the-pin winner also earned him a chance at $25,000 if he could somehow find the bottom of cup with just one swing.
Riemer made a great pass at the money ball, as seen in the photo above, but the shot finished above ground just a few feet away. Still, a nice victory and solid prize for the former Cleveland State Vikings golfer.
2017 Cleveland Metroparks Golf Player of the Year Jason Jendre added a unique title to his roster of victories, that of Golf Darts Champion. Jason totaled 135 points on the dart board to beat the 2020 field and win a new driver.
In the Long Drive Competition (shown left to right above), Zach Seither won the Men’s competition with a rip of 395 yards, Howie Krause captured the Senior division with a solid strike of 367 yards, and Sidney Kirby took the Women’s title with a stout poke of 271 yards. They each won a brand new driver as well.
Finally, in the Long Putt Challenge conducted all weekend long, only Jake Williams (no photo) made two of three putts good for a $25 prize, out of the hundreds of players who put up $5 for three balls. But a large number of winners earned a $10 prize for making one putt: 17 players on Friday, a whopping 38 players on Saturday, and 22 on Sunday.
Kudos to North Coast Golf Shows CEO Joe Stegh and his team for a fun weekend of golf activities in the middle of February in Cleveland Ohio!
