Live from Canterbury Golf Club it’s news and notes from Round 1 of the 2016 DAP Championship:
Silver Lake native Ryan Armour toured Canterbury Thursday morning at 2-over par 72. He’ll need to make a bit of a run on Friday afternoon to get inside the cut-line of the top 65 scores and ties.
See the great piece our own Tim Rogers wrote on Ryan as a special for the Akron Beacon-Journal here.
Armour heads off the first tee at Canterbury at 12:36 PM on Friday, a perfect reason to ditch work after lunch and join these guys as spectators…
Former Kent State player Mackenzie Hughes (above) is also in the field at Canterbury this week, playing in the afternoon wave Thursday.
Just like Ryan Armour, Hughes finished in the top 25 on the money list during the Web.com Tour season and has already secured his PGA TOUR card for 2017. He looks to better his exempt position on TOUR as well.
Bath resident and Group Management Services sales exec Derek Duda has nabbed a top loop at the DAP Championship.
Duda is caddying for Nicholas Lindheim, another top-25 Web.com Tour grad who has earned exemption to the PGA Tour for 2017. Lindheim won this year at the Utah Championship.
Duda, a Cleveland State grad who has been a winner in a number of local amateur events, has caddied a number of fellow Viking alumni to victory both here and nationally: from pro Jake Scott in the PGA Assistants Championship in Port St. Lucie, FL and at Q-School, to amateur Brad Steven in the Greater Cleveland Am.
Let’s see if D2 can work his winning magic at Canterbury for Lindheim…
Northeast Ohio Golf will be on-site at the DAP Championship at Canterbury Golf Club all day Friday and Saturday!
Look for us near the main spectator entrance at Canterbury, on the walkway inside the gates headed toward the fourth tee.
Come say hello, grab a logo sticker for your golf bag, and maybe even take a selfie in front of our brand new NEOHgolf.com banner…
The Web.com Tour posts great event coverage every week.
