The players challenging the top guys on the 2016 Chippewa Scratch League Leaderboard had a successful Week 13, turning up the heat on the race to the finish.
Mike Armour and Jason Chadima posted a 5-under par 65 in the combined score Shamble format on Monday to win by a single shot over Ty Kovach and Allen Freeman.
Armour was the man of the match for the evening, making five birdies himself after proclaiming how poorly he had been playing for the last few days. The pair also grabbed a skin with a double-birdie on the fourth hole, and birdied the final hole of the round to secure the victory.
Freeman and Kovach also nabbed a skin with a double-birdie on the tough par-4 5th to help their climb up the list, too.
Mike Simpson partnered with John Kabasky to nab a share of third place and inch closer to the top of the Leaderboard from his second place position.
And Rob Schustrich and Chris Okeson also finished T3, but they further helped their cause by nabbing two skins on the evening, netting them a nice result.
Rob Chapman holed a wedge from 128-yards out for eagle on the fifth hole, but his partner Jeff Barbas dumped his second shot in the bunker and made bogey. Barbas needed to make birdie to win the skin there, a tough task.
Leaders Shayne Bishop and Ken Koprivec were shut out on the evening, making for an ever-tightening Leaderboard with only five weeks left to go in the season…
