Some Northeast Ohio players look to take on the rest of the nation’s best two-player teams at the first-ever playing of the USGA Four Ball Championship at the Olympic Club in San Francisco starting Saturday.
Groupings and starting times have been announced for the first two rounds of the 2015 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship, Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3, at the 6,981-yard, par-70 The Olympic Club (Lake Course) and the 6,761-yard, par-70 The Olympic Club (Ocean Course).
The local players in the field include:
Sat 8:48 a.m. Ocean Course – Sun 12:12 p.m. Lake Course
Jim Krivanek, Cleveland, Ohio / Brian Smith, Amherst, Ohio
9:12 a.m. Ocean Course – 12:36 p.m. Lake Course
Matthew Collins, Powell, Ohio / Wes Stafford, Willoughby, Ohio
The U.S. Amateur Four-Ball consists of 36 holes of stroke play on May 2 and 3, after which the 128 sides (256 players) will be reduced to the low 32 sides (64 players). There will be five rounds of match play at The Olympic Club’s Lake Course, starting May 4. The quarterfinals are slated for May 5, while the semifinals will be played the following morning. The championship is scheduled to conclude with an 18-hole final on Wednesday, May 6, starting at 1 p.m. PDT.
