Even a turn in the weather during Week 1 of the 2015 Chippewa Scratch League season couldn’t kill off a decent turnout — or some fresh faces from winning.
Noriaki Yukimura and Mike Beaulieu tied for first place in their first-ever outing in the league, finishing at 4-under par 32 in the scramble format on the back nine. They also nabbed a skin on the evening.
They tied for first place with Bobby Spino and last-minute partner Jason Chadima, and the big winners of the evening Shayne Bishop and Ed Diebold who nabbed two skins on the night to jump to the top of the 2015 Chippewa Scratch League Leaderboard.
The temps dropped and the rain fell off-and-on starting at 4:30p, and some guys who showed up at league time or played in the early skins game opted not to take on the weather. Given that, 17 teams was a fair showing under the new ‘open entry rules‘…
