Errors in Last Two Weeks of Chippewa Scratch Results

Chippewa Monday Scratch LeagueDuring the last two weeks of the Chippewa Scratch League, there has been a tie for first place.

Each week, a scorecard playoff was used to break that tie.

But the use of a scorecard playoff was an error — and it was only realized this morning.

Scratch League rules have always been that ties for first place split the gift certificates and the pot. Only ties for second or third place go to a scorecard playoff, under the idea that those amounts are too small to break up. (According to Kevin Larizza, that rule will be reviewed again before 2015 to make it even more clear: all ties split.)

This ‘first-place-ties-split’ rule was used for determining payouts during Weeks 3, 4, 8 and 11; not using it in exactly the same way in Weeks 14 and 15 was simply an oversight.

So as of this morning, the game stories, the pot amounts and the gift certificate amounts shown on this website for Weeks 14 and 15 have been corrected and revised. And the Chippewa staff is updating the season-long standings and correcting players’ certificate account files today to reflect this as well. Apologies from all for the confusion.
