David Trier of Stow ran the table in the first round of the 2014 Chippewa Championship in Doylestown on Saturday.
Trier made two eagles (a chip-in on the par-4 7th and a nice putt on the par-5 11th), earned three skins on the day (the two eagles and a birdie at the 203-yard par 3 12th), and shot 2-under par 69 to lead by a whopping four shots.
That trio are followed by 20 players at a score of 77 or better, any of whom could catch fire and still win the Championship.
So how Sunday turns out will be completely up to Trier. A solid round, and no one will catch him. A couple of sketchy shots here and there in the Sunday Chippewa setup, and all of those other players have a chance…
