In the aggregate format where both players’ individual 9-hole scores are added together to count as the team total, usually an under-par score is a lock win.
Ty Kovach and Allen Freeman shot a 1-under par 71 early in the evening, and for most of the time lead the way.
But Dr. Jeff Mallette and partner Mike Kracker showed up around 7:15 p.m., played as a twosome with a marker (in an hour and 15 minutes!), and posted a strong 2-under par 70 to win Week 3 of the Chippewa Scratch League.
The aggregate score format also lends itself to skin winners, and this time around was no different; complete results below.
Next Monday, the Chippewa Scratch League takes a week off for the Memorial Day holiday, but an open $50 am / $100 pro Big Skins Game will be played starting at 11:20 – 12:20. Simply show up in advance and you will be grouped on the tee — but be on time as the tee sheet is full for public play.
