Week 10 in the Chippewa Scratch League featured a big carry-over skins pot, a warm and windy night, and the perfect format for some team to nab the cash: 2-man better ball. Two teams stepped up to the plate and to take home the big prize.
Chris Okeson and Rob Schustrich played the sideways wind at the long par-4 fifth hole better than any other team, posting the only birdie there on the evening. A birdie skin winner on that hole is not unexpected.
But far more surprisingly, a birdie at the dogleg par-4 9th hole held up as well for the team of John Lenton and Mike Heim.
Skins paid a tidy $485 each.
Four teams tied at the top at 3-under par 32, including Okeson and Schustrich, making them the ‘men of the match’ for the evening. Not much movement on the 2012 Standings, as the current leaders weren’t in the mix this week.
