Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville, the home course for this year’s Cleveland Amateur Golf Championship, and the formerly-private-but-now-public Hawthorne Valley Golf Club in Solon have joined the ranks of “Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play” for 2011.
The annual Golfweek list offers separate “Classic” and “Modern” designations for the top 100 nationally, plus a list of the top courses by state with public access. See the complete state list here.
In addition to the newcomers of Sleepy Hollow (at #4) and Hawthorne Valley (at #3), past designates Boulder Creek Golf Club in Streetsboro (#2), Little Mountain Golf Club in Concord (#7), and The Quarry Golf Club in Canton (#8) round out the 2011 entries from Northeast Ohio on this Top 10 list.
Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport earned the top spot for the state.
The rest of Ohio’s best public access courses include Shaker Run in Lebanon (#5), Stonelick Hills in Batavia (#6), Cook’s Creek in Columbus (#9) and Black Diamond in Millersburg (#10).
Really Black Diamond, I guess Golf Week needs some help, I can think of several places better than Black Diamond.
