Even though it has been open since 1925, Skyland Pines Golf Course in Canton is now “new and improved”.
Skyland Pines has “new” owners in brothers Steve DiPietro and Dave DiPietro. But the family has experience with Skyland Pines; their father Joe owned the course for decades before selling it when he retired several years ago.
And now new Superintendent Korey Waseman (formerly of Canton Brookside and the Pepper Pike Club) and new General Manager Trevor Stan have been charged with making Skyland Pines a must-play golf course in Canton.
Skyland Pines was designed by Stanley Thompson, the internationally-known Canadian golf course architect who designed local gems Beechmont CC, Sleepy Hollow GC, Trumbull CC, Avalon, as well as the Top 100 course St. George’s in Ontario, and many more.
Skyland Pines is a mature, tree-lined ‘old school’ public golf course. The rolling layout is suited for golfers of all ages and skill levels, as it maxes out at 6827 yards with five sets of tees. But it’s the challenging greens, true and fast, that keep players on their toes.
For practicing, there is a large lighted driving range with both turf and grass tees. There is also a heated and lighted indoor driving range open year round.
