The 2024 NOGA Tournament of Champions was played Monday, September 23rd at The Country Club in Pepper Pike. By winning their home Club Championship earlier this season, 18 players qualified for the Championship Division and 10 for the Senior Division.
Fresh off of claiming the NOGA Player of the Year honors for the tenth time in his career, Brian Smith won the Tournament of Champions. Smith was the only player in the Championship Division to post a final score under par. Smith entered the 16th hole two strokes back of the lead, but made an eagle at the 527-yard par-5 to tie the lead with two holes to play. Brian would go par-par to finish, then benefit from a double-bogey on number 17 from his co-leader, Matt Paterini, to claim a one-stroke victory.
Howard Clendenin continued his great season with a convincing four-stroke win in the Senior Division of the Tournament of Champions. The recent NOGA Tour Championship victor would make seven birdies on the day, including two on his first two holes, to post a 5-under par 67. Howard would go bogey-free on the back nine to hold the lead from start to finish.
