Sowers goes under par at Pine to launch Dickey Electric juniors
Kate Sowers of Tam O’Shanter Golf Course stood up to a wall of rain and humidity Tuesday at Pines Lakes Golf Course to card a 2-under par 71 and lead the pack at the ‘Joe’ Dickey Electric Greatest Golfer junior tournament.
Driving and chipping led her way to the Ambrose Family Eye Center u14 Girls title.
“I do a lot of chipping and putting at night because that’s the main part of the game,” said Sowers.
Blake Hood of Skyland Pines Golf Club near Alliance scored a 77 to win the Joe Nohra Insurance Boys u17 title.
Alyssa Rapp of The Lake Club scored an 83 to win top honors Magnolias on the Green u17 Girls division.
And Dante Turner broke 80 for the first time in his career. Playing out of Tippecanoe Country Club, Turner shot 79 to lead the way in the Ron Kreps Drywall u14 division.
