The final Women’s Ohio State Golf Association event of the 2024 season kicked off on Monday from Piqua Country Club, located in the central western side of the state. Twenty-nine women competed in three flights in the first round of 26th Women’s Ohio State Senior Amateur Championship.
One player stood above the rest on the first day of the two-day event, Columbus native Michele Thompson. Thompson finished the first round as the only player to post a score under par, posting a one-under-par 72. Starting her back nine with three birdies in her first five holes, Michele put herself firmly in the driver’s seat with a six-stroke lead heading into Tuesday’s second and final day.
Jen Irwin holds the second position after a first-round 78.
In the 1st Flight, Tricia Honeycutt holds a one-stroke lead over Paula Elliott after finishing with an 11-over par 84.
Cindi Comchoc shot a 14-over par 87 to take a two-stroke lead over Marla Flinn in the Super Senior Flight.
The Final Round of the WOSGA Senior Amateur Championship kicks off tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at Piqua Country Club.
