The final round of the 26th Annual Ohio Women’s State Senior Amateur kicked off with a group picture of all the participants, perfectly displaying the prevalent camaraderie throughout the tournament. The first-year partnership between the Women’s Ohio State Golf Association and the Northern Ohio Golf Association has gone as well as all of the members could have hoped.
Michele Thompson claimed a wire-to-wire victory on Tuesday afternoon after posting back-to-back sub-75 rounds. The Columbus native would finish with a ten-stroke victory over the next closest player. As she was awarded the Pauline Frey Whitacre trophy, Thompson stated that she could not wait to try to repeat next year, and maybe even win the Women’s Amateur as well.
Tricia Honeycutt would claim the First Flight victory, posting an 88 on Tuesday en route to a two-stroke win in her flight.
Cindi Comchoc, an Englewood Ohio native, would also claim a two-stroke victory in the Super Senior Division. Cindi followed up an 87 on Monday with a 90 on Tuesday to win the flight.
