2022 Tigertown Open: Help Us Make It Even Better!

Lobys Tigertown Open

Last year’s 70th playing of the Tigertown Open at The Elms Country Club in Massillon was another big success: 168 professional and amateur players competing for the largest guaranteed one-day pro payout in Ohio, a $5,000 first place prize (won by Mogadore’s Nathan Tarter).

But starting with the 71st playing, we want to make the tournament EVEN BETTER.

How?

Northern Ohio Golf will partner with The Elms Country Club to produce the 2022 event, to add even more marketing polish and media flair.

So what exactly does that mean?

It means that Northern Ohio Golf will handle player registration, event operations, media and marketing, while The Elms will focus on providing the best possible golf course conditions on tournament day. And both sides will work together on sponsorships and corporate presentation.

What Stays the Same in 2022:

– the guaranteed first place prize of $5,000 to the low Pro;

– a $1,500 guaranteed first place prize to the low Senior Pro;

– 18 holes of stroke play in four divisions played on Friday, July 15th.

Some Changes for 2022:

CASH PAYOUTS for amateur and senior amateur players per the new USGA rules, with $40 from each amateur entry fee going into the prize pot paid back to 25% of the field (just like our NOHIO.GOLF Series events);

– four brand new SKINS POTS by division, with $20 from each player going into those four separate skins pots ($3,360+ total!);

NOGA Live Scoring– the Northern Ohio Golf Association will provide its fantastic Live Scoring by NOGA service to the Tigertown Open, so players and fans will see in real time on the TVs at the clubhouse and on the app everywhere else exactly who leads the tournament and who is chasing in all four divisions;

– there will be NO PLAYOFF in any division as all ties will split, so the morning wave players no longer need to wait after finishing play in case of a tie.

The Biggest Change of All:

But the biggest change of all will be the amount of corporate marketing and media exposure that will be provided to the advertisers and sponsors of the 2022 Tigertown Open. It is the tournament’s goal to provide as much corporate identity presence as we can to each and every company that chooses to join with the tournament.

We will provide this brand identity exposure through pre-event advertising and tournament promotions; through the Northern Ohio Golf website; in numerous social media posts; on signage at the golf course on tournament day; and through the distribution of game stories, photos and results after the tournament to as many regional radio, TV and newspaper websites as we can.

Bottom line, if the tournament gets mentioned somehow someway going forward, its sponsors will be mentioned, too.

Loby's GrilleSo far, the popular Loby’s Grille in Canton has agreed to act as the Title Sponsor of the 2022 event, as in the Loby’s Tigertown Open. Thank you Loby’s! This critical sponsorship gets the tournament most of the way towards creating that new level of media and presentation.

Additionally, Benmit Pipe & Tubing Services will act as the Scoreboard Sponsor for 2022, which allows us to bring the aforementioned NOGA Live Scoring to life.

Starting today, the tournament has 10 additional sponsorship options available, all at very reasonable dollar amounts: a Hole-in-One Sponsor, a Long Drive Sponsor, a Driving Range Sponsor, a Player Interview Area Sponsor, and up to six Supporting Sponsors. Securing these advertising sponsors will allow us to run the high-value, high-media pro-am golf tournament we envision.

BUSINESS GOLFER BONUS: every Tigertown sponsorship package includes one priority amateur tournament entry into the field. So if you or someone in your company wants to play in the oldest, biggest one-day pro-am in Ohio, potential sponsors now have TWO reasons to choose one of these available packages. (Don’t delay, sponsorship slots are first come, first serve.)
